About your Privacy
What are personal data?
These are pieces of information that can identify you directly or indirectly, such as your name, tax ID, email, phone number, IP address, browsing history, geolocation, among other pieces of information that can identify you.
What is personal data processing?
The term "personal data processing" is defined as all actions that can be carried out with a piece of information such as: collecting, accessing, updating, storing, archiving, reproducing, evaluating, classifying, extracting, communicating, sharing, transferring, deleting, among others.
Who is the data subject?
The data subject is you, the owner of your own personal information. The LGPD has empowered citizens to control their data, strengthening the exercise of freedom of expression, access to information, and rights to privacy, honor, and image.
Who are the data processing agents?
They are natural persons or legal entities (companies) that carry out the collection, use, sharing, or any other activity with personal data for economic purposes. They must act as the guardians of personal data in their environments and, therefore, have the duty to carry out processing activities in accordance with the purposes set out in the LGPD. There are two categories of data processing agents:
- Controller: is responsible for making decisions about how personal data processing will be carried out and for defining its purpose.
- Operator: a person or company contracted for commercial purposes by the Controller to provide some service at his request. It will process the data following the Controller's instructions and always in compliance with the Law.
Who ensures the protection of personal data in Brazil?
The Law established the National Data Protection Authority, also known by the acronym ANPD, to regulate all data processing activities in Brazil. It has the power to monitor companies and receive complaints and/or grievances filed by data subjects.
